|The Trouble with Tapping Scripts
If you’ve visited any EFT websites lately, you’ve probably heard of or read about EFT tapping scripts. A
tapping script is a set of phrases focused on a particular issue. Sometimes tapping scripts include different
Reminder Phrases for each tapping point, and sometimes they may not include any reminder phrases at all—
only Set-Up Phrases. They are written by EFT practitioners of various skill levels, and some websites or
practitioners seem to offer enormous libraries of these scripts. You may find tapping scripts offered free;
given in exchange for your email address or subscription to a practitioner’s newsletter; or, as is becoming
increasingly common, they may be offered for sale.
Tapping scripts are most commonly tailored to appeal to EFT beginners: those who aren’t sure they “know
what to say” in the Set-Up and Reminder Phrases.
The problem with tapping scripts (and tap-along videos too) is that they are often too generic to be
effective. That’s because the wording of an EFT Set-Up Phrase or Reminder Phrase is not the key to getting
good results. Matter of fact, it is possible to omit the Set-Up Phrase completely, and still get great results
The real key to getting optimal results with EFT is finding and addressing the root cause(s) of an issue. We
get the best results with EFT when we are specific. Tapping on general or nonspecific issues may result in
some relief, for some people, some of the time. What it usually will not do is provide reliable, optimal results
for everyone-- meaning that, at least in some cases, tapping scripts may be a waste of time (and money, if
the script was purchased) for the majority of people who try them.
CORE ISSUES ARE OFTEN UNIQUE
In my experience, the root cause and/or the core issue(s) at the heart of a problem is often unique to that
individual. For instance, let’s say we wanted to work with people who are afraid of elevators. I might have a
fear of elevators because of a bad experience being stuck in one, while you might be afraid of them
because they’re small spaces and you’re claustrophobic, and a third person might have a fear of the
elevator falling with them inside. Someone else may’ve had a memorably bad argument in an elevator, or
been molested in one, or may have been locked in a broom closet one day and the elevator somehow
reminds them (consciously or subconsciously) of the panic and fear they experienced in that earlier
It would be the rare tapping script that could address all of our issues-- not to mention the tens of
thousands of other reasons people may have for being afraid of elevators.
To make things even more interesting, some of those reasons (otherwise known as core issues or root
causes) may not seem related to the fear of elevators at all. My example of the broom closet is just the tip of
this enormous iceberg. The “obvious” answers may not get you to the heart of the problem. This is where
digging and detective work come in. That’s beyond the scope of a generic tapping script.
Of course there are exceptions to every rule. Sometimes an EFT practitioner may provide a customized
tapping script as “homework,” to follow up on issues you addressed together in a session. Since that script
would be tailored to you and your unique situation, it would likely be specific enough to help you achieve
Or a tapping script might happen, by chance, to address the root cause or a core issue you have. Provided
you work with the script and actually use it as a guide for tapping, your results will also probably be
If you’ve tried an EFT tapping script and didn’t get great (or any) results, it could be that the focus just
wasn’t specific enough for your individual needs. If you’ve used a tapping script to wonderful effect, that
means that the script did address a root cause or core issue for you. And if you’ve had some mixed results
with tapping scripts or tap-along videos, perhaps now you understand more about why that may have
To summarize, there is no way to be certain that you will enjoy high quality results from EFT tapping scripts.
They may or may not work for you, depending on whether or not a particular script references your
individual core issues/root causes-- the true and specific reason(s) for that problem.
So while you'll find a few tapping scripts in articles available for download here on the Shekinah Birthing Co.
website, there will never be a fee for them. When you choose to purchase items from me, I want to insure
that you receive something of real value in return for your money. There's just no way to guarantee that with
a generic, "one size fits all" tapping script.
